Policies and Entrance Requirements

Prior to be admitted into the Institute, a prospective applicant is required to have a personal interview with a member of the ad-missions staff.  This interview is important in assisting both the institution and the applicant to clarify which program will best suite the applicant’s needs.  The interview also provides an opportunity for the applicant to ask any questions he/she may have about the institution.  Only applicants who have an interest in a program or course of study and who are dedicated to finding employment in a related field after graduation, should consider enrolling into a program or course at the institute.

Proof of high school graduation or equivalent is necessary to enroll in any of the Institute’s programs.  Applicant may produce one of the following, which is acceptable: a written sworn statement; official high school transcript or equivalent; official passing scores on GED equivalency.

All documents submitted in support of an application for admission, become the permanent possession of the Institute.

  Non-Immigrant Students

The Institute is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students or speakers of another language.

Non-immigrant students come under the same rules and regulations as other students of the Institute.  They must undergo a personal interview with the Admissions Department and take written and oral placement tests.  A written statement by the applicant is acceptable documentation that he/she has completed high school in his or her country.

Applicants must understand that the Institute does NOT grant Change of Status to any non-immigrant student.  The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) makes all decision and determination on applicants who apply for Change of Status through the Institute.

Applicants must complete the appropriate documents and submit documented evidence of financial stability.

The executed documents are then submitted to the BCIS by the Institute on behalf of the applicant for review by the BCIS. Since this might take some time, applicants must wait to hear from the BCIS. When they receive correspondence from the BCIS, a copy must be given to the Institute to be placed in applicants’ file.

The following rules apply to all non-immigrant students:
  • Financial aid is not available to non-immigrant students.
  • There is a one-time non-refundable registration fee for each program/course.
  • Tuition must be paid in advance.  Students must also enter classes with the necessary books and work materials.
  • To remain in good standing with the school and the BCIS, non-immigrant students must attend all classes on a regular basis, pending the BCIS decision and determination.
  • Non-immigrant students must follow and complete all courses in approved curriculum.
  • Students must advise the Institute of any changes such as address, telephone number, etc.

Students seeking approval for Practical Training must be enrolled in programs with technical skills.  They may also apply for full-time Practical Training through the school and submit the necessary documents to the BCIS after completing their program.

PLEASE NOTE:  The BCIS will not consider or grant Practical Training to students enrolled in ESL courses only.
